When it comes to overlanding and camping in Wales, the Glanusk Estate is the “Gold Standard.” Spanning over 16,000 acres of diverse Welsh landscape, this historic estate hosts six distinct Off Grid Camp locations so you can find the perfect spot to suit your needs or make a trip out of exploring them all!
From high-altitude mountainous terrain in the Black Mountains to secluded riverside retreats along the Usk, Glanusk offers a range of unique camping experiences that you won’t find anywhere else in Mid or South Wales.
One Estate. Six Unparalleled Adventures.
Whether you’re looking for a technical Level 3 ascent or a tranquil spot for a brew by the water, here are the six locations you can now unlock through the Off Grid Camp network:
1. The Myarth
A true high-point of the estate. The Myarth offers commanding views over the Usk Valley. It’s the perfect spot for those who want to wake up above the treeline and survey the kingdom.

2. The Gliffaes Rocks
Stunning riverside spot with the famous rocks where you can setup your dinner on the rocks with the river meandering past. A totally unique experience.

3. Aberedw Hill
Heading further north toward Builth Wells, Aberedw Hill offers that “lost in the wild” feeling. It’s expansive, remote, and perfect for members looking to test their navigation and off-grid setup.
4. Grwyne Fawr Reservoir
One of our most requested technical spots. This high-altitude location near the reservoir is for the serious overlander. It’s wild, wind-swept, and offers a level of isolation that is rare in the UK.
History meets overlanding. Named after the famous 4-meter tall Neolithic standing stone (which looks remarkably like an upright fish), this site allows you to camp in the shadow of Welsh prehistory near the banks of the River Usk.

6. Pant-y-Llyn Pond
A serene, high-level pond location that offers a completely different vibe. With views across 3 counties this wild and windswept location is for those looking for a next level adventure.

Responsible Exploration
Part of what makes Glanusk so special is its status as a protector of the land. Many of the Off Grid Camp sites are located within SSSIs (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) and SACs (Special Areas of Conservation).
As an Off Grid Camp member, you aren’t just a camper; you’re a guest of a working estate that has been managed by the same family for generations. They pride themselves on their “Tread Lightly” philosophy, ensuring that these 16,000 acres remain as pristine for the next generation of explorers as they are for us today.
